
We are pleased to have one of Hampton's own, Dwight Stephenson, as this year's keynote speaker.
As a youngster, Dwight started his football career in Hampton playing for a little league team named Saint Rose. After this brief experience he turned to basketball playing at Lindsay Junior High and J. V. at Hampton High. It wasn't until the 11th grade that he returned to football. He became an All-State selection his senior year earning a scholarship to the University of Alabama, where he helped the Crimson Tide win consecutive national titles.
Stephenson was a second round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins and considered by many to be the best center ever in the NFL. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. Dwight's athletic prowess blossomed right here in Hampton, where he learned and practiced teamwork which ultimately took him to a successful career as CEO/President of D.
